Sound Design By

David Søttrup

My name is David Søttrup, I’m 24 years old and currently studying Sound Design at Sonic College. I’m passionate about creating sound for Podcast, Film and Games.

In my approach to sound design, the story is key. I provide what the story needs, from music that carries it forward to slow, looming ambience that gives the story space.

I love diving headfirst into collaborative projects where media worlds combine to evoke emotion in the listener.

Sound For Picture

The Morrigan
TAW

This project was created in collaboration with The Animation Workshop. I was a part of a three person Sound team who also worked together with an external composer.

My main focus was Foley, sound effects, Dolby Atmos integration, and mixing.

At 00:55, you can hear our Foley work. We used different types of metal to create heavy and menacing armor sounds. It was important to us that the sound showed the soldiers’ power and dominance in the scene. Even a simple sound like metal can help tell the story and make the characters feel stronger.

The short film will be shown at several animation and short film festivals and will be released in September 2026.

at the end of this snippet you can hear my composition. Here the pitch was an adventures soundtrack with sounds from the Japenese edo period. Here i worked closely with the team at TAW to satisfy their needs and make the adjustments they saw fit.

The short film will be shown at several animation and short film festivals and will be released in September 2026.

Vardøger
Sonic College

Vardøger is a school project written, filmed and sound designed by a 5 man group from Sonic College

My Main Focus in this Project was my role as Composer and Sound Designer.

The intro sequence features a soundtrack fully produced and mixed by me. The function of this soundtrack was to set the tone and is a starch contrast to the otherwise realistic intro.

Podcast

Stikkerne På Staldgården
Staldgården

This was a school project in which our group transformed a local World War II story into a podcast, developed in collaboration with Staldgården.

My main focus throughout the project was storytelling and sound design, with the podcast’s jingle composed and produced by me.

For the musical direction, I aimed for a modern and mysterious atmosphere that reflected the smoky, secretive, and stealthy world of espionage during World War II.

The jingle can be heard at 01:50

Stikkerne På Staldgården (Trailer)
Staldgården

This is the trailer for the same podcast episode referenced above.

For the trailer, I selected some of the most compelling passages from the episode and combined them with an alternative, more symphonic and epic version of the podcast’s original jingle.

I also made sure to open the trailer with contextual markers, helping establish the theme, setting, and overall atmosphere.

Sound For Games

Yoshimi's Lost Phones

This game was created by me as part of a school project. The assignment was to design a simple game where the player navigates from one end of the map to the other, collecting three items in order to unlock the final gate.

My approach was to turn the concept into a musical game. Instead of traditional collectibles, the player has to locate three phones, each featuring a unique ringtone that hints at its location. Once a phone is collected, its ringtone becomes an integrated part of the game’s soundtrack, gradually building the music as the player progresses.

To create a cohesive audio experience, everything was designed in the same key and with an 8-bit aesthetic from the player’s footsteps to the individual ringtones.

All sound effects and music were composed, produced, and implemented exclusively by me..

Music

Seatt - Lofi Hip Hop

Lofi hip hop was my first meeting with the world of producing. This genre shaped me and taught me the basics of audio production and mixing. Naturally, my love for the genre turned into a project called SEATT. Here I could freely post the beats i made while learning DAWS and discovering my love for creating music.
It became my first success as a creative, with songs at over 200.000 streams and being added to an official Spotify playlist.
The project is currently on pause, but will come back with more music in the future.
